Setup Process – Using a Downloaded MSI Installer from your PC
Our applications are distributed in MSI format for installing from a PC connecting with
the Windows Mobile device through Microsoft ActiveSync. With your device connected and
synchronized execute or double click the MSI file you just downloaded.
The installer will start and prompt you where to install the software in your PC and
then on your mobile device. In some cases, the installation procedure will appear to
be repeating several steps, this is because it has detected that some of the components
needed (such as .Net Compact Framework or SQL Server Compact Edition) were not already
installed in your device. The setup process will install first the framework, then the
database (if the application uses it), then any additional components and finally the
application itself. For each of these components, setup will copy it to the mobile
device, then prompt you where on the device you want it installed: “Device”, “Memory
card x”, etc. Always select “Device”, this way if you remove the card, you will still
have your application and components available. The additional components are only
installed once, if you have them already installed, then setup will prompt you still
want to install them and they will not take up more space, setup will overwrite the
existing version if the one being installed is more recent.
In some cases after the installation of one of the modules, you may be prompted if you
want to reset the device for the changes to take effect. You can reset your device and
reconnect to Microsoft ActiveSync after the reset process has completed. The setup
process on your PC will wait until your device is available again for transferring the
next component and continuing the process.

Setup Process – Using a Downloaded CAB Installer on your mobile device
This type of setup requires that you download the files to your device, execute the
installer and then delete the CAB file from your device. This may have to be done for
each of the components/modules that the application uses. It is a more involved process
that is recommended for experienced users only. If you are not sure what to do, please
install from your PC with the MSI installer that will do all this for you and will
prompt you whenever it needs your input.
The cab file provided with our applications contains only the Application Module. Your
application may need to use the .Net Compact Framework, SQL Server Compact Edition and
other components. Each application lists its own requirements. You can download these
components free of charge from our website following these links:
• .Net Compact Framework v2.0
• SQL Server 2005 Compact
Install these component CAB files first and then install the Application CAB file. You
can keep a copy of the CAB files as a backup in your PC or burn them to a CD/DVD. The
CAB setup process does not delete the CAB files from your device automatically as the
MSI installer does, therefore you need to delete the CAB files yourself after the
installation process.

After the Setup Process runs
Once the setup process is completed, you can disconnect your device and start using
your application.
It is recommended that you register the application. If you just purchased it from one
of our partners, you should have received a Registration Code, this code is unique to
your device and is calculated from the Windows Mobile Owner Name for your device.
If you do not want to register the application, then you can still use it with full
functionality as a trial until the trial expires. Just remember that we wouldn’t be
here without your support, if you find this tool useful and are willing to use it,
we encourage you to purchase it.
